I would say the best way is to use a lubricant of any kind. At least that's what I use on my vinyl. in the case of CD and DVD, I thought it best to use a moisturizer too fat:)
Penates not use cream, a little too thick, but not perfumed body lotion works for me.
I also drank alcohol a few times, and the results. . . were not so great. :)
